Everyone already has too many accounts. Too many passwords. Too many apps demanding a profile before you can do anything.
Asking your group to create yet another one — just to split a dinner bill — is a hard sell. Someone won't bother. Someone else will start and give up at the email confirmation step. You end up chasing people instead of splitting expenses.
Settlify doesn't ask for any of that. Participants open a link — nothing else required.
What you can do without an account
This is not a read-only guest mode. Participants without an account can:
- Add, edit, and delete expenses
- Split costs equally, by custom shares, or by exact amount
- Include or exclude specific people from individual expenses
- View balances in real time
- See the simplified settlement — who pays whom, and how few payments it takes
- Record payments
- Convert currencies with live exchange rates
The full experience. No account gating.
Try Settlify without an account yourself:
How it works
- The organiser creates a group at Settlify and shares the link in the group chat
- Each participant taps the link, enters their name, and starts adding expenses immediately
- Everyone sees balances and the settlement update in real time
No app store. No email confirmation. No waiting.
What about someone who won't use any device?
Not everyone will tap a link, even if you ask nicely. That's fine.
The organiser can add any person by name — no invite, no device needed on their end. They exist in the group purely so expenses can be split correctly. They owe their share, others can see it, and the settlement accounts for them. They just never have to touch the app themselves.
The honest tradeoff
Most apps that require no signup are either view-only, or they make you pay to unlock anything useful. Settlify doesn't do either — but there is one tradeoff worth knowing about.
Without an account, your session lives in your browser. Clear your cookies or switch devices, and you lose access to the group on that device. Participants can rejoin simply by opening the shared link again.
Organisers are different. As the person responsible for the group, you should create a free account. That way you can always recover access — even if you lose the link, clear your browser, or switch phones. It takes 30 seconds and costs nothing.
