Splitwise Alternative: No Ads, No Daily Limits

You're on a trip. You add your second expense of the day. Splitwise tells you to watch an ad — or come back tomorrow.

That's not a glitch. That's the product. Settlify is the alternative — no ads, no daily limits, no subscription.

Why We Built a Splitwise Alternative

Splitwise gives you 2 free expenses per person per day. After that: two unskippable ads. After that: wait until tomorrow.

If you're on a weekend trip and splitting dinner, breakfast, groceries, and fuel — you hit the limit before lunch on day one.

And people work around it. They ask someone else in the group to log the expense. They cram three unrelated costs into one entry. They screenshot the receipt and deal with it later. Sound familiar?

This is friction by design. Splitwise wants you to subscribe to make it stop.

What the subscription actually costs

Splitwise Pro starts at €3 per month to remove the ads and lift the limits. That's fine if you're splitting expenses every week. But most people use a bill-splitting app for a trip or a one-off event — then forget about it until the next one.

Forget to cancel, and you're paying €36 a year for an app you used once.

What we built instead

Settlify is a one-time payment per group. No subscription. No monthly charge to remember to cancel.

The first group is free. After that, it's $1 / €1 / £1 / CHF 1 per group — split among everyone. Four friends on a weekend trip: a few cents each. That's it.

What's included

No ads, ever. No daily limits. All features from the start.

A few other things that work differently from Splitwise:

  • Easy onboarding for the group. Create the group, share a link. Nobody needs to download anything, not even the organiser.
  • Payment apps you already use. Settlify connects to Revolut and Twint so settling up takes one tap, not a back-and-forth about who has what app.
  • Currency conversion included. Log expenses in any currency. Convert at the end if your group wants to — or don't. You decide, not the app.

The simplify debts algorithm, custom splits, recording payments — all the basics are there too.

But the reason people switch from Splitwise isn't missing features. It's the daily limit at the worst possible moment, and a subscription model that punishes casual use.
